Winterset, Iowa (Madison County)
The Madison County Courthouse was built from native limestone in 1876 and has long been a recognizable landmark for travelers. The designer of the state Capitol in Des Moines also designed this impressive building.

Clark Tower was erected in 1926 as a memorial to one of the county's first pioneer families by their descendants. Constructed of native limestone, it stands 25 feet high and offers a commanding view of the Middle River valley below.
